This is a hardcover first American edition of The Adrian Mole Diaries by Sue Townsend, published in 1986. This volume is a compilation of the first two diaries in the series: The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾ and The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole. The stories follow a young teenager in 1980s Britain navigating adolescence, family trouble, and his ambitions to be a "misunderstood intellectual".
The stories are known for their humor, which comes from the protagonist's naive and self-centered perspective as he navigates adolescence, family issues, and real-world events like the Falklands War.
This particular edition features a distinctive white dust jacket with a central illustration of a hand writing in a diary; the series is written in a diary format and follows the life of Adrian Mole, a self-proclaimed intellectual teenager growing up in Britain in the early 1980s. This book is ex-lib, so has clear cover and appropriate markings as seen in the photos. It makes an excellent reading copy.
