This brooch represents 4 hourglass figures (triangles joined together), which represents the fertile female form, and by showing them with their hands raised above their heads, we can tell that they are ritual dancers. Such dancers were common in Ancient Greece (around 1400 BCE) at funeral rites, and were intended to represent the triumph of life rather than the mourning of death. It is made of pewter with a silver finish, and measures 1 inch by 1.5” wide. On the reverse it is signed ICNS with each letter on a figure.
